Purpose The aim of the present study was to evaluate the success rate of modified multiple mini subscleral trabeculectomies (MMSTs) in primary congenital glaucoma (PCG). Patients and methods A total of 40 patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of Mansoura Ophthalmic Center (24 male, 16 female). All patients were diagnosed with PCG (from birth to 1 year of age) during the period from May 2012 to May 20014, and underwent MMST. Results MMST showed 94.4-83.3% success rate in mild and moderate PCG, respectively; in severe PCG, MMST showed lesser success rate of 60.0%. Conclusion MMST has a high success rate in PCG, especially in mild and moderate cases, in comparison with goniotomy, trabeculotomy, trabeculectomy or combined trabeculotomy-trabeculectomy procedure, which may be due to many filtrating sites having less chance to be closed at the same time, with fewer incidence of complications.
